WorldCare Clinical Commences Medical Device Study Using Knee MRI
Boston, MA, December 18, 2016 — WorldCare Clinical (WCC), a leading provider of imaging services for medical device clinical trials, today announced that its radiology team commenced reads on a 200-patient medical device trial involving knee MRI. The assessment, which requires a radiological review to be completed within 24 hours of image receipt, is of musculoskeletal abnormalities of the knee with focus on the meniscus and any destruction of the bony structures of the joint.
Dr. Stephen Pomeranz, Medical Director of ProScan Imaging and Chief Medical Officer of WCC, is the lead radiologist on the trial. Dr. Pomeranz is a noted MRI, CT, and PET consultant to professional sports teams around the world and leading expert with extensive experience in pre- and post-operative implant assessment. Dr. Pomeranz is leading the team of subspecialty-trained radiologists from ProScan Imaging to perform the reviews on this trial.
ProScan Imaging, the parent company of WCC, is a teleradiology service with 34 board-certified, subspecialty-trained radiologists on staff. Last year, ProScan Imaging’s radiologists performed over 225,000 MRI reviews, including more than 80,000 of the lower extremity. ProScan’s radiologists are accustomed to meeting rapid turnaround times both in the diagnostic and clinical research fields.
The rapid assessments are also made possible by WorldCare’s proprietary Web-based technology platform. The system permits reviewers from any computer with an Internet connection to review images through a secure portal. In addition, sponsors are able to view images in the system from their own secure Web portal.
“Our combination of board-certified, subspecialty-trained radiologists with our state-of-the-art technology platform enable us to achieve the highest quality results for sponsors in a timeframe they have come to expect,” stated Aaron Timm, CEO of WorldCare Clinical.
